Confirmed! The WEX Global Awards judges for 2023
We have the pleasure of announcing the following judges who have been confirmed for this year’s awards. They represent a great variety of specialist areas of innovation in the water sector, and are excited about judging and evaluating what is sure to be a diverse display of examples of innovative strategy.
Beverley Ferrara
Beverley has 25 years of experience advising on international business development and marketing for organisations across public and private sectors. She is the European Representative for Trade & Investment and Stakeholder Engagement for The Water Council, a US non-profit organisation advancing technological innovation in the water sector.
Walid Khoury – Innovation in Decarbonising
Walid recently launched the innovative Desalytics, a social impact company tackling challenges to the water sector in Africa. He has experience leading commercial organisations and water divisions, and now also hosts video discussions with global leaders, showcasing the latest technology and crucially sharing insights into the water industry.
Tom Freyberg
Tom offers a crucial journalistic perspective to the panel, as Founder & Managing Director of Atlantean Media, a global digital content creation company for the environmental engineering industries, specialising in water. He has contributed greatly to online innovation in the global water market, having co-created the Aquatech Online platform in his role as Content Director at Aquatech.
Dragan Savić – Innovation in Digitalised Water Management
Dragan brings great expertise to the judging panel, with more than 35 years of experience in engineering, academia, and research consultancy. He is CEO at KWR Water, based in the Netherlands, and a Professor of Hydroinformatics at the University of Exeter in the UK. Dragan believes in “bridging science and practice” across the utility sectors.
Jim Southworth – Innovation in Water Circularity
Jim has over 45 years’ experience in the utility sectors. Having specialised in capital delivery, and later international business development, Jim has worked across continents and in 2010 he set up an independent consultancy, with clients in Africa, Europe, Japan, North America, and the Middle East.
Juliette Douglas
Juliette of Water Alliance, offers an essential eye for innovation to the judging panel, with a unique understanding of the importance of innovative business alliances across European water sectors. After being responsible for marketing and communications for 9 years at Water Alliance, she became part of the International Business Development team, based in Portugal.
Oliver Grievson – Innovation in Digitalised Water Management
Oliver has led an incredibly varied career in the international water industry. He is a specialist in ICA and the Smart Water Industry, and also fulfils the roles of chairman of the Sensors for Water Interest Group (SWIG), Assessor & Reviewer Trainer for CIWEM, and Technical Lead for the Water Industry at Z-Tech Systems. His expertise in the water industry processes, upon which his periodical WIPAC Monthly focuses, makes him a great asset to the judging panel.
Miguel-Angel Sanz
Having spent 39 years in the Suez Group in a wide range of senior roles, Miguel–Angel was until recently the Director of Strategic Development in Suez International based in France. He has wide experience in a range of roles with particular expertise in desalination. He is a board director of the European Desalination Society, former President of the IDA, Director of AEDYR. He has more recently founded MSW Water Consult and continues to work in major water sector projects worldwide.
