As the WEX Global 2023 conference in Seville approaches, we can share more details of this year’s exciting agenda…

One particularly exciting session will be the fast-moving WEX Global Utilities Round Table Forum. We are thrilled to announce that our ‘Country Technology Partner’ from the Netherlands, Water Alliance, will be hosting these round table discussions. There will be up to 20 leading utilities discussing the challenges they face.

This is how it will work for participants:

  1. Choose a utility and join their table
  2. Meet the utility table host and exchange contacts with your fellow guests
  3. Learn about the challenges and plans of the utility, and exchange ideas, plans, thoughts and philosophies
  4. Three table rotations will leave you with new contacts, new ideas and new business opportunities

This promises to be an incredibly rich and useful occasion for all involved. With three table rotations, you will gain new contacts, new ideas, and new business opportunities, from discussions with a wide range of people across the industry.

There will be no shortage of interesting and innovative people to exchange ideas with, and an exciting line-up of utilities represented, stretching across the globe, from United Utilities (UK) and Aguas de Gaia in Portugal, to National Water Commission in Jamaica and DC Water in the USA – with combined experience of the full range of water and wastewater challenges. This year, each utility will address a specific subject, with subjects compiled in a list to allow you to establish which interest you the most.

‘Cyber Nightmare in Porto’

Leaders from Utilities that you will be able to meet at WEX Global 2023 include Ruben Fernandes, Executive Director at Águas e Energia do Porto – one of the largest and most innovative water companies in Portugal. Ruben will talk about cyber security for utilities, as his company experienced a cyber-attack in January. This is a fascinating story which explores how to turn an apparent disaster into a great opportunity for a resilient utility. His session is just one example of the diverse range of topics which will be explored at these round table discussions.
