Cambi is a world-leading technology provider for conversion of sewage sludge and food waste to biogas and bio-fertilizer, using a unique pre-treatment method, the Thermal Hydrolysis Process (THP). THP “turbo-charges” biogas plants by using steam to pressure-cook materials before anaerobic digestion. Cambi THP reduces cost of building biogas digesters, increases biogas production, and produces a reduced volume of pathogen-free and low odour compost-like product, which can either be used directly as fertilizer or fuel, or further dried. THP also eliminates odour problems associated with the treatment of organic materials.
THP plants are standardized and modular and easy to integrate in new and existing anaerobic digestion plants.
Cambi THP has been used in more than 50 projects since 1995, in 20 different countries – with total capacity to treat sludge and biowaste from 50 million people – including large wastewater treatment plants in world cities like Athens, Washington DC and Beijing.
With 90,000 people on the five continents, SUEZ is a world leader in smart and sustainable resource management. We provide water and waste management solutions that enable cities and industries to optimize their resource management and strengthen their environmental and economic performances, in line with regulatory standards. To meet increasing demands to overcome resource quality and scarcity challenges, SUEZ is fully engaged in the resource revolution. With the full potential of digital technologies and innovative solutions, the Group recovers 17 million tons of waste a year and produces 3.9 million tons of secondary raw materials and 7 TWh of local renewable energy. It also secures water resources, delivering wastewater treatment services to 58 million people and reusing 882 million m3 of wastewater. SUEZ generated total revenues of 15.3 billion euros in 2016.
